BlueCross members with the following policies can now add the VisionBlue plan to their individual BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee coverage: USAble Life Voluntary Short Term Disability ChangesUSAble Life has revised portions of their Voluntary Short Term Disability plans, formerly referred to as Voluntary Income Protection (VIP), to reflect market trends. The below listed changes took effect with August 1, 2010, effective dates. USAble Life Introduces Express Claims Service for Disability ClaimsUSAble Life now has Express Claims Service, a single lump-sum payment process for eligible disability claims. The employee receives a one-and-done benefit payment at the beginning of the eligible disability period, rather than a weekly benefit payment. The payment amount is based on medical duration guidelines for the disability and the attending physician's statement submitted with the claim.* Enhanced Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Benefits for New GroupsNew employer STD and LTD groups of 200 lives or more will now receive access to an enhanced employee assistance program automatically through USAble Life, in conjunction with New Directions Behavioral Health (NDBH). This program includes access to comprehensive online resources, as well as access for employees to receive up to three face-to-face assessment and counseling sessions per event.
